How much a babysitter costs in Marrakech in 2026

Two markets sit side by side in Marrakech. One is the full-time nanny hired by a resident family. The other is occasional care, a few hours or a few days, with someone who travels to you. Comparing their prices is like comparing a monthly salary with a service booking.

The full-time nanny

This is for a household that needs someone every day, often with a wide set of duties. Listings in Marrakech mostly sit around 850 to 1000 dirhams a week, sometimes more depending on experience, whether the nanny sleeps in, and whether she drives. It is a long commitment with one person, and the implied hourly rate is low because the volume is high.

Occasional childcare

Here you are buying hours, not a post. The market sits around 80 dirhams an hour, and a full day runs between 600 and 700 dirhams depending on the provider. Evenings cost more than daytime hours, because they take someone at the moment they are hardest to find.

What moves the rate

• Number of children. Two siblings are not priced like a group of five, which usually needs a second sitter.
• Time of day. Evenings, nights and public holidays cost more everywhere.
• Length. A single hour costs proportionally more than a full day, because the travel weighs as much as the care.
• Location. Gueliz or the Medina is not the same trip as a villa in the Palmeraie or out on the Ourika road. Most providers include the centre and add a supplement beyond it.
• Language. A sitter who is genuinely fluent in English is rarer, and in higher demand among visiting families.
• Training. An early childhood qualification and first aid training change the level of service, and the price with it.

Questions worth asking before you book

A rate on its own tells you very little. Ask who exactly will come, what happens if that person cannot make it, whether travel is included, whether meals and bedtime are part of the booking, and which language will be spoken with your children. Clear answers to those five are worth more than a low quote.
